So what the heck is breathwork anyways?
Somatic breathwork is an embodiment experience. The breath is the medicine.
Rooted in the ancient practice of pranayama, breathwork is a practice designed to bring you out of your thinking mind and into your feeling body. Breathwork has been used for centuries to tap into deeper layers of consciousness and emotional experience. Ancient traditions have long understood this and modern science is beginning to agree.
In our modern world, we store so much energy and emotion in the body, often with nowhere for it to go. Over time it builds up, eventually manifesting as anxiety, depression, or even physical ailments. Carrying the weight of unresolved trauma, chronic stress, and constant critical thoughts leave us dysregulated. Somatic breathwork offers a powerful way to release this built-up energy—something that traditional talk therapy or even working out doesn’t fully address.
During a session, we use rhythmic breathing set to a really dope playlist – designed to facilitate a cathartic emotional release. This can manifest as shaking, moving, crying, laughing, or other physical expressions, all of which are normal and expected (don’t worry, we’ll go over everything before your first session!).
The practice empowers you to harness the natural power of your breath to release stuck energy, clear internal blockages, and step into your most authentic, empowered self. Breathwork is more than just a healing tool; it’s a transformative journey toward personal growth and self-realization.
